Science and Religion are not polar opposites. Rather, they are both branches of the same tree growing towards the same light. The light of wisdom, universal understanding and the most luminous of all lights: the light of truth.
Thousands of humans have spent their lives picking or choosing which branch they belong too, failing to realize, in my opinion, that all branches in a tree grow from the same seed and belong to the same trunk.
Science and Religion are both ways of humans to explain their existence...because we seem to have an innate fear of uncertainty. Religion tells you the story of creation, science tells you the story of the big bang. Both in attempts to explain truth and create a solid understanding of what we know as reality.
And although religion and science are not exact replicas of each other and tend to differ in their details of what reality is, they are both methods of explaining what truth is. And even though they take different roads when explaining....the roads lead to the same destination: TRUTH.

First off, great stuff. I would like to add however, that following a tree trunk up to the branches has so many times lead me in two opposite ways. To be more clear I would say we as humans so often end up tangled in the branches of the tree expecting to find substance when in reality, we've already overlooked truth, at the roots. I feel like we waste so much time swinging from branch to branch (finding them open ended) and what we are really looking for is way underneath the soils. It's almost like how people expect to heal from the outside in (e.g. I want dreadlocks so I can be a Rasta, I will wear a headscarf and be a religious Muslim, I will hang with a religious crowd and become more faithful) when its only really possible to heal from the inside out. That is precisely our problem that gives us this spontaneous leap into a jagged state of confusion and despair. Also, I feel like there is no point searching for answers until you really understand the questions you are seeking. This is what causes us to go straight for the branches, expecting that there is always a higher spot that will bare our weight. All that said, I couldn't support your idea any stronger that individual opinions about 'Science and Religion' are lacking a tree trunk; the only solid part of the tree that has no open ends and builds a bridge between areas of complete disorder: the roots (truth) and the branches (science and religion). Nice post!
verrrry interesting. hmm. in my opinion, science and religion are two ways to hear/play the same song, and the human can only attempt to find, lets say, the arTIST to this masterpiece. I believe that the only way to find this mystery one man band is to observe it from the roots. listen to what your heart desires, and play what your heart tells your hands. religion - science.
furthermore, i think that people should now take a step back and observe past-human obsessions instead of molding into one genre. there is too much of I & ME, that most men are saying - who is SHE?
Why Guy?
in all seriousness, however, most humans are radical with the way they feel and express their words. They have deemed language too important to be what it truly is supposed to be - description. im not saying one cant be passionate and enlightening with words, just dont mold into your own paper thin thoughts.
"The truth is an offense, but not a sin
Is he who laugh last, children, is he who win.
Is a foolish dog, bark at a flying bird.
One sheep must learn, children, to respect the shepard"
